Spirit of the West

Galleries, culture, great food and eclectic shops make up the James Street North arts district. For the James North Art Crawl, a festive event on the Second Friday Night of Every Month, galleries and shops keep their doors open until around 11 p.m., so visitors can explore and chat. Here, you’ll find a stimulating range of exhibits in a variety of settings, including a former tailor’s shop (Hamilton Artists Inc.) and The Print Studio, which draws working artists from around the world. The Bayfield Historical Society’s Tenth Annual Collector Exhibition Held on Saturday April 17th and April 18th 2010. The hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for both days; the admission is by freewill donation at the door. Our location is still upstairs at the Bayfield Community Centre, which does have elevator access for those who require it.The diverse offering of collectables, memorabilia and nostalgia items, that the collectors bring to the show is varied and interesting, making the show not only fun for all ages but educational as well.The lunch booth is open for the duration of the show. The silent auction will be set up with 100 plus items, please note the auction closes at 4:00 pm on Sunday. The “roadshow” style appraisals are very popular so please no more than 3 items per person, no set fee for this service, but donations are greatly appreciated. Bayfield Ont. Earth Week 2010

This Earth Week, Westfield will officially open three separate projects offering environmental education programs for children and the general public, and land reclamation through tree planting. This is the largest single TD Friends of the Environment grant given in the area to date and is responsible for creating a bee observation hive, historical green house, native species garden, Regency period garden, and an endangered tree species teaching forest. Westfield gratefully acknowledges the support of the TD Friends of the Environment and the local Hamilton committee. Water if Life: Keeping Hamilton Alive for 150 Years

We are celebrating 150 years of clean Municipal drinking water in Hamilton. The story of our City's vital water systems has many underlying narratives. This exhibition takes you on a journey through the establishment of a municipal waterworks, the financial struggle individual families faced to secure access to clean water; the emergence of new technologies based on reliable water and our community's improvements in public health; as told through photographs, artefacts and personal accounts.
