Fergus, Memories of My Mother, exhibit of hooked art
Wellington County Museum & Archives, County Road 18
Rug hooking is fundamentally thought to be low-tech and simple, with results that are eye-catching and highly creative. This exhibit will leave you appreciating this age-old art in a whole new light. The majority of the pieces have used fabrics, fibres and embellishments connecting each to a mother to whom tribute has been paid with the hand-hooked artwork. Unique to the exhibit are submissions by Sybil Mercer of Southampton, who coordinates the renowned Chantry School of Rug Hooking, and her daughter, Barb Mercer Nonnewitz.

Baden, Digging up Wilmot
Castle Kilbride, 60 Snyder's Road W.
What was here before? For this exhibit we will dig for the truth. A fascinating display that travels through the history of our beautiful township, beginning with fossils from pre-historic times, to Native artifacts, pioneer pieces, all the way to Victorian "trash." The exhibit will highlight William John Wintemberg born in New Dundee, who was the first archaeologist in Canada to study the various aboriginal cultures of Ontario scientifically and was long recognized as the leading authority on that subject. Items kindly on loan from the Ministry of Culture, the ROM and local residents.
