The 21st Ontario Technological Skills Competition
RIM Park & Manulife Sportsplex, 2001 University Avenue E, Waterloo 9 am - 3 pm. This annual event showcases 300 000 sq. ft of skilled trades and technology contests. Over 2000 students and apprentices from across the province will compete in one of the 60 different contest areas. Contests range from Carpentry to Culinary Arts, Webpage to Welding. Competitors vie for a gold medal to go onto represent Ontario at the Canadian Skills Competition that will be held immediately following in Waterloo, ON. The 16th Canadian Skills Competition - Where The Future Performs

Skills Canada - Ontario and the City of Waterloo are pleased to host this national skilled trades and technologies competition. Each year, the event brings together approximately 500 young people from all regions of Canada, to compete in over 40 trade and technology areas. The competition provides an opportunity for young Canadians studying a skilled trade or technology to be tested against exacting standards and against their peers from across the nation. Students will vie to win the honour of being crowned the best in their chosen discipline and to represent Canada at the 2011 WorldSkills Competition, to be held in London, UK. Contests range from Aircraft Maintenance, 3D Animation, Auto Service, Baking, Carpentry, Electrical Wiring, Fashion Design, Hairstyling to Landscape Design, Mechatronics, Plumbing, Robotics, Webpage Design, and Welding. This four day national event will be open free to the public on Saturday, May 22 from 9AM to 4PM. In addition to the excitement of viewing the numerous contests, the event also showcases demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages that enable visitors to explore and try their hand at making various take home items.
